EDITORS LETTER:
Systems of Release started as the brainchild of our obsession with techno and the yearning for community. Systems of Release as a curatorial archive which began as a discord server geared towards community accessibility. Through various servers, we created a digital landscape for ravers to document; the who, what, where, when and why. Over time, we knew physically archiving these moments was necessary. This feeling came from our dedication, obsession, and passion the techno community instilled in us, all coming down our love of music and dance.
Now, Systems of Release (SOR) has bloomed out of this passion into a physical love letter. SOR takes the shape of a magazine dedicated to representing, reflecting, and documenting the people, places, parties, and principles that shape the landscape of New York City Techno. Through intentionality and respect, we created what we believe to be an honest reflection of what the NYC rave scene looks like right now, in 2023 and hopefully beyond. This magazine is made for the scene, by the scene. SORes and all. We call out to avid dancers, passionate creators, and all those in between who make up the fabric of this community.
